Built by researchers who needed better tools

We started Hero Imaging as users rather than as a company. The tools grew out of our own research work and from a shared sense that existing solutions did not quite reflect how medical imaging research is actually done.

Our team brings together backgrounds in clinical research, medical imaging, and applied machine learning. We do not always agree, and that has been important. Many of the ideas behind Hero were shaped through discussion, disagreement, and careful iteration. What we share is a strong belief in building software that is clear, flexible, and genuinely useful in day to day research.

We first met at Umeå University, where we were all working on similar problems, often solving them with our own scripts and pipelines. Although the code worked, it was difficult to share, reuse, and maintain over time. That recurring experience gradually turned into a common idea of what a better research platform could look like for the medical imaging community.

Our goal is simple. We want to make advanced medical image analysis easier to work with while respecting the complexity of the field. You focus on the questions you want to answer. We take care of the tools.
